Adaptive Cards and Task Previews

AB Projects posts rich Microsoft Teams Adaptive Cards into the linked channel so the team sees what's happening on a task without opening the app. A card is a live preview of the task at that moment, plus what just changed.

When a card is posted

  • Every comment on a task posts a card to the linked channel.
  • Every task change — creation, status, assignee, priority, dates, progress, type/environment, and so on — also posts a card. Each change carries the reason you entered.
  • The first card for a task starts its thread; every later card for that task is posted as a reply in the same thread, so all of a task's activity stays grouped.

What the card shows

A task card is a full preview, not just a title. It includes:

  • Priority badge (🔴 High / 🟡 Medium / 🟢 Low) and the start → due date range, with an overdue warning when the due date has passed.
  • The comment text or change summary for this update, and — for changes — a diff of the most recent edits (field: old → new).
  • The task ID badge (e.g. "AB · 747"), the title (with a ✅ when complete), and a progress bar with percentage.
  • Type, status, and environment badges, the assignee (avatar and name), a subtask count (done / total), a comment count, and who created the task.
  • An Open button that deep-links straight to the task in the AB Projects tab.

Channel behavior

  • Cards are posted in the Teams channel the project is linked to.
  • Mentioned members are @mentioned in the card's message, so they get Teams' native notification (see Commenting with Mentions in Channels).
  • Replies in the task's Teams thread sync back to the task as comments — the conversation stays complete in both places.
  • If a card's underlying message is no longer reachable, AB Projects automatically falls back to posting a fresh card so updates are never lost.

Tips

  • Write a clear reason when you change a task — it appears on the card alongside the field diff, so the channel sees exactly what changed and why.
  • Keep replies in the task's thread; they flow back into the task automatically and stay grouped with the rest of its activity.
  • Use the Open button to jump straight to the task instead of searching for it in the tab.
  • Adaptive Cards render well on both desktop and mobile Teams, so the same preview works wherever your team is.

With Adaptive Cards, AB Projects keeps your team in sync — visually and contextually — right inside Microsoft Teams.
