I Can't See My Tasks

If tasks you expect aren't showing in AB Projects, it's almost always one of a few things: which project you're looking at, the filters that are applied, the view you're in, or whether the project roster has synced yet. Work through these in order.

1. Check which project you're in

  • Tasks belong to a specific project. In a Teams channel tab you see that channel's linked project; in the personal app or web you may belong to several projects — make sure the one you expect is selected.
  • If you use the multi-project filter, confirm the right project is chosen there too.

2. Clear filters — this is the most common cause

  • Open the filter panel (the funnel icon above the task list) and clear anything narrowing the list: keyword, status, type, environment, assignee, and the completion filter.
  • Completed tasks can be filtered out — set the complete/incomplete filter to "all" if you're looking for something you already finished.
  • Omitted tasks are hidden by default. If a task was marked omitted, tick "Show omitted tasks" in the filter panel to see it.
  • Your filter choices are remembered between visits, so a filter you set days ago can still be hiding tasks today. Clearing it sticks the same way.

3. Check the view you're using

  • The task area has List, Gantt, and Kanban views.
  • Gantt only shows tasks that have valid start and due dates. A task with no dates is listed as "—" and has no bar — switch to List to see it.
  • In List, a subtask appears under its parent — collapse/expand the parent if you're looking for a child task.

4. Confirm you're a project member

  • Project access follows the connected Microsoft Teams channel. If you're not a member yet you won't see any tasks. There is no per-task "private" visibility — every member of a project sees all of that project's tasks, so a missing task is never because someone marked it private.
  • Membership syncs automatically when anyone in the channel opens the AB Projects tab, and it's throttled (about hourly). If you were just added to the Teams channel, your access may not have synced yet — have any channel member open the tab to trigger a sync, then refresh (see Becoming a Project Member in AB Projects).
  • If you were removed from the project but are still in the Teams channel, the next sync re-adds you — and vice-versa (see Adding or Removing Members).

5. Reload to pull the latest

  • The tab shows the project's state from when it loaded; teammates' changes aren't pushed live into an open tab. Reopen or refresh the tab to pull the current list.
  • In Microsoft Teams, switching away and back to the tab, or signing out and in, forces a fresh load.

6. Still not showing?

  • Confirm with an Owner or Admin that you're in the linked Teams channel (that's what grants access).
  • Double-check you're signed in with the correct Microsoft 365 account and tenant (see SSO and Microsoft Login).
  • If it still doesn't appear after a sync and a refresh, contact support with the project name and the task's title or ID.

In practice the vast majority of "missing task" cases are a filter still applied (often "incomplete only" or omitted hidden) or the wrong project/view — check those first and tasks usually reappear immediately.
