Inviting Team Members
AB Projects is accessed and provisioned exclusively through Microsoft Teams. Team onboarding is handled via the Teams app — keeping licensing, identity, and access aligned with your Microsoft 365 tenant.
Your whole team joins automatically
You don’t invite people one by one. Onboarding is driven by the membership of the Teams channel the AB Projects tab is connected to:
- Set up the AB Projects tab once in a Teams channel (an admin or owner adds it and links the channel).
- From then on, every member of that Teams channel is automatically added to the project — the moment any one member opens the tab, the rest of the channel’s members are provisioned too.
- Membership stays in sync with the Teams channel: as people are added to the channel, they’re picked up automatically on a later visit.
- This means a teammate can be assigned tasks and appear as a member before they ever personally open AB Projects.
First time a person opens AB Projects
- The first time someone personally opens the app, they confirm a display name on a quick one-screen step. That’s it — no email invitation, no password.
- Note: the user must have an available license within your Microsoft 365 tenant to complete registration.
Manually inviting specific members (optional)
- From the Team page, an admin can also invite specific people who are in the linked Teams channel but not yet in the project — useful for pulling someone in immediately instead of waiting for the automatic sync.
- The invite list is limited to the linked Teams channel’s roster. You cannot invite arbitrary outside email addresses — this keeps access aligned with the team your Microsoft admins already manage.
Accessing the Web Version
- The web app is restricted to users who have already been provisioned through Microsoft Teams.
- New sign-ups are not supported via the web — users must come in through Teams first.
- This keeps all access under your organization’s Microsoft licensing and security policies.
Managing Roles and Access
- Admins can configure roles (Admin, Member, Viewer) from the Members tab inside AB Projects.
- All users are mapped to their Microsoft identity and tenant context automatically.
Tips
- Connect the AB Projects tab to the channel your team already works in — the whole channel is onboarded automatically, with nothing to send out.
- Need someone in right now? Use the manual invite on the Team page instead of waiting for the next automatic sync.
- Monitor license availability in your Microsoft 365 admin center so users can complete registration.
This Teams-driven onboarding keeps access secure and tenant-controlled, while removing the friction of inviting and registering people individually.
