Microsoft Teams App Doesn't Load

If the AB Projects tab or personal app in Microsoft Teams shows a blank screen, an endless spinner, or a sign-in/error message, work through these in order. The most common causes are a stale Teams client, sign-in/consent, or network filtering of the AB Projects domain.

1. Reload the tab or app

  • Right-click the tab and choose Reload (or close and reopen the personal app from the left rail).
  • A transient load failure usually clears on a reload — try this first before anything else.

2. Update or restart the Teams client

  • AB Projects loads its UI from blz.actionbridge.io inside a Teams webview. An out-of-date desktop client can use an old embedded engine that fails to load it.
  • Fully quit and restart Teams (not just close the window), and let it update. On the web client, use a Chromium browser (Edge or Chrome).
  • Quick triage: if it loads in Teams web but not the desktop app, it's almost certainly a desktop-client cache/version issue (see step 4).

3. Sign-in & admin consent

  • AB Projects signs you in automatically with Microsoft SSO. A blank panel or a stuck "signing in" often means sign-in didn't complete — allow any consent/permission popup, and make sure you're signed into Teams with the correct Microsoft 365 account and tenant (see SSO and Microsoft Login).
  • Your organization's conditional access or app-consent policies may require a Microsoft 365 administrator to approve AB Projects before it can load (see Why AB Projects Requires Microsoft Graph Permissions). If colleagues in other tenants work fine but your whole org can't load it, this is the likely cause.

4. Clear the Teams cache

  • Stale Teams cache is a frequent cause of a tab that won't render. Sign out of Teams and back in; if it persists, clear the Teams client cache (via your OS) and restart.
  • This resolves most "works for others but not me on this machine" cases.

5. Network / firewall

  • The app must reach blz.actionbridge.io (and actionbridge.io). Corporate firewalls, VPNs, proxies, or ad/script blockers that block these domains will leave the tab blank.
  • If it loads off the corporate network (e.g. on a phone on cellular) but not on it, ask IT to allow the AB Projects domains.

6. App removed or consent revoked

  • If AB Projects was uninstalled from your tenant, or its permissions/consent were revoked in Microsoft Entra, it won't load until it's reinstalled and re-consented. Check with your Microsoft 365 administrator.
  • Note: not seeing a project after the app does load is a different problem — that's membership/filters (see I Can't See My Tasks), not a load failure.

If none of the above resolves it, contact support and include whether it fails on desktop vs. web, what you see (blank, spinner, or an error message), and any error text.
