In AB Projects, uploads are images embedded where you write — in comments, descriptions, and the icon pickers. There is no separate “attach any file” store, so the most common “upload problem” is actually trying to attach a PDF or spreadsheet to a task.
Where images can be uploaded
| Where | How | Size limit |
|---|---|---|
| Task and document comments, task/document descriptions | The rich-text editor’s image button — or just paste a screenshot; pasted images are uploaded automatically | No fixed in-app limit, but very large images can be rejected by the platform’s request-size cap — keep screenshots to a few MB |
| Profile icon (Settings) and project icon | The icon picker’s file chooser | 2 MB — larger files fail |
Use common web image formats: PNG, JPG/JPEG, GIF, WebP.
If an upload won’t go through
1. Shrink the image
Icons over 2 MB are rejected outright. For editor images, a huge uncompressed screenshot or photo can also fail — resize or compress before inserting. Smaller images load faster for everyone anyway.
2. Make sure your session is valid
Uploads require you to be signed in and a member of the project. If your session has expired, the upload fails silently — reload the tab or page so you’re freshly signed in, then try again (see SSO and Microsoft Login). There is no separate license that gates uploading.
3. Check your network
The image is sent to AB Projects’ storage over the same domains the app uses. A flaky connection, or a corporate firewall/VPN/proxy that blocks the AB domains, makes uploads fail or hang — see Microsoft Teams App Doesn’t Load for the domains to allow. If it works off the corporate network but not on it, ask IT.
4. Rule out a client glitch
Reload the tab and retry — a transient editor state is a common cause. Try a different browser or device, or paste vs. the image button, to see whether the problem is local.
Good to know
Uploaded images live in AB Projects’ own cloud storage (Azure Blob Storage, run by ActionBridge) — not in your OneDrive or SharePoint. That means OneDrive/SharePoint policies don’t apply to them, and there is no Microsoft 365 admin toggle that “disables AB uploads.”
If uploads still fail after all of the above, contact support with a screenshot of the error, the image’s format and size, and whether it fails in the Teams desktop app or the browser.
