AI Support Features in AB Projects
AB Projects uses AI to take routine effort out of the work and to make project context easy to grasp. Here's what's actually available today — AI-generated content is always clearly indicated, and you should review it before relying on it.
Dashboard AI greeting
- Your Home dashboard (both your personal view and a project view) shows an AI greeting in a robot speech bubble — a short, context-aware summary to orient you as you arrive.
- It's generated in the background and is a quick read of where things stand, not a prescriptive action plan.
AI on a task
- Task summary. Opening a task can show an AI-generated summary of its context (status, dates, recent activity) so you don't have to read the whole history to get oriented.
- Suggested subtasks. From a task, Suggest subtasks proposes a breakdown; you edit and select which ones to create — nothing is created until you confirm (see Daily Digest and AI Assistance).
- These are assistance, not automatic changes — the task only changes when you act.
The AB Projects bot in Teams
AB Projects includes a Teams bot you can talk to in a personal chat or by @mentioning it in a channel.
- Structured commands work directly: my tasks, tasks today, help (personal), and team tasks, team members, tasks today, help (in a team).
- Ask in your own words. The bot uses AI to interpret a free-form message and map it to the right action; if it isn't a known request, it answers conversationally with AI — so you can ask about your tasks or for project-management help in plain language, 1-on-1 or in a channel thread.
- Team members returns a card listing each member with their active task count, sorted by load — a quick way to see who's busiest. (It shows the numbers; it doesn't auto-recommend reassignments.)
AI assistants via MCP
- Beyond the built-in bot, AB Projects is AI-ready through the Model Context Protocol: a connected assistant can create, update, query, and comment on tasks and documents on your behalf (see Connecting AI Assistants via MCP and MCP Tools Reference).
- All AI-generated tasks, comments, and content are clearly disclosed in-app so it's always obvious what came from an assistant versus a person.
Good to know
- AI output is generated assistance — treat the summary and suggestions as a starting point and verify before relying on them. The task's change history and comments remain the source of truth.
- The bot answers questions; it doesn't silently change your project. Changes still go through the normal task/document actions (with their reason and history).
From a quick AI read of your dashboard and tasks to a bot you can just ask — and assistants that can do the work via MCP — AB Projects keeps AI useful and transparent, with people in control.
